Thailand has always been one of the most popular destinations for people to travel to in Asia. It has some of the most beautiful scenery in the world as well as a rich culture and history. The country is also home to some of the friendliest people in the world and is famous for being the ‘Land of Smiles’.

5 reasons why you need to visit Thailand

There are many reasons why everyone should visit Thailand at least once in their lifetime. Let’s take a look at 5 reasons why you need to visit Thailand.

The food is incredible

Thailand has some amazing food that will make your mouth water instantly. The cuisine is famous for its spice and heat, not to mention its incredible variety. From street food to high-end restaurants, there is no shortage of variety here. From world-famous food like tom yum, chicken satay, and pad thai to less popular dishes like Khao Yam and Kua Kling, Thailand has no end to the amount of amazing food you can try out. If you want to try some local cooking while in Thailand, make sure you stop by one of their many markets, where you can buy fresh produce directly from farmers who grew it themselves.

The people are friendly

Thailand is known as the “Land of Smiles” for a good reason- the locals are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet. They always have a smile on their faces and are willing to help in any way they can if you are in trouble. When you visit Thailand, you can expect to be greeted with open arms by Thai people wherever you go. It doesn’t matter if you’re staying at a luxury hotel or backpacking through the country; everyone will make sure that you feel welcome and cared for during your stay.

The scenery is breathtaking

If you're looking for a tropical beach vacation, Thailand is the place to be. The coastline stretches over 1500 km, so you'll never be far from a pristine beach. Places like Phuket, Ko Samui, Pattaya, and Phi Phi Islands are some of the most popular beach destinations in the country. Besides beaches, the country is also home to lush green forests that are home to interesting wildlife. Out of more than a hundred national parks in the country, we recommend you check out Khao Sok National Park for its flora and fauna, Mu Ko Similan National Park for its coral reefs, Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park for its caves, and Kui Buri National Park for its elephants.

The rich culture and history

The first thing you'll notice when you arrive in Thailand is how different it feels from other countries. Beneath the sleek modern cities lies an ancient culture that still survives to this day. Thailand is home to a primarily Buddhist population, and most Thais are very devout followers of this religion. You'll find sacred pagodas, temples, and giant Buddha statues all over the country where you can pay your respects. There's a sense of calm and peace that permeates the entire country, even in the busiest cities. The people are generally more polite and respectful than in other countries, and even their greeting - a slight head bow with hands together known as "wai"- is seen as a sign of respect. Even its rich history can be traced back to the once-thriving Khmer Kingdom (which was based in what is now Cambodia), whose ruins still stand throughout the country today.

It's affordable

If you want to experience Thailand's culture and history firsthand, you can do without burning a hole in your pocket. The country is one of the most affordable places for tourists and offers great value for money. If you’re traveling here on a backpacker’s budget, you can get by for about $30 or even less a day. Most street food will cost less than $1. You can get a good room for around $10 USD per night or even less if you are staying in a hostel. Flights tickets to Thailand are also considerably cheaper with a one-way flight to Bangkok costing around $300 or even cheaper depending on when you book.
