The asura God Rahu is one of the most respected gods amongst the Thai people. He is worshipped since he brings luck and prosperity to his worshippers. In this blog, we take you on a journey to the 10 places in Thailand where you can worship and pay respect to Rahu.
 

1. Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan

Wat Traimit Withayaram Worawihan is the first place we recommend you to visit during your Rahu that we recommend. This ancient temple is famous for housing a 5-metre high gold statue of Buddha. there is even a small exhibition on the 3rd floor of the temple providing background on Buddha and his teachings.

2. Rahu Thewalai

Rahu Thewalai is another important temple that should not be missed by worshippers. Rahu Thewalai is located at the corner of Kaset Nawamin Intersection in Bangkok. Right along the Ekamai-Ramintra expressway, this temple is open to visitors every day.

3. Chao Am Temple

Wat Chao Am in Bangkok is another place to worship Rahu that people visit regularly. The temple was built in the 1770s to honor the life of a royal concubine named Chao Am who was the chief concubine of King Taksin the Great.

4. Wat Sisrathong

Wat Sisrathong is another auspicious place to worship Rahu that comes highly recommended. It is immensely popular amongst the local populace who bring black offerings to pay their respect to Rahu every day, except on Buddhist holy days when it is forbidden to pay respect.

5. Wat Tha Mai

Wat Tha Mai is a famous monastery in Samut Sakhon. It is frequented by devotees who come here to pay respects to Rahu and to wish for their prosperity as well. Another interesting thing about this temple is that many people come here to get their fortunes read by abbot Pra Ar Jan Uten Sirisaro.

6. Wat Saman Rattanaram

Wat Saman Rattanaram is a temple famous for its large and striking pink reclining Ganesha. The temple is also home to the largest Rahu in Thailand.

7. Wat Khao Sung Chaem Fa

Wat Khao Sung Chaem Fa is another temple where devotees can go to pay respect to Rahu. Here you can find a collection of sacred Buddhist relics that are held in high regard by many people. There is also a large Rahu statue here that should not be missed when visiting.

8. Wat Mae Ya Som

Wat Mae Ya Som is a beautiful temple in Sa Kaeo. The temple is vibrant and has a giant golden Ganesh statue along with various other sculptures including a Rahu Buddha image for all devotees to worship.

9. Ganesha Shrine, Chiang Mai Arcade

Another place where you can worship Rahu is the Ganesha Shrine in the Chiang Mai Arcade. This beautiful shrine is a popular place for locals and tourists alike. Every other day there are free dance shows on the shrine premises. You can also find Ganesha-related themed cafes nearby.

10. Wat Sam Phraya

Wat Sam Phraya in Bangkok is a royal temple that was said to have been first built during the Ayutthaya period. The interior of the temple is covered in beautiful painted floral patterns along with a buddha statue. The exterior is surrounded by a beautiful garden.
