Travelling to a new country is one of the best things to do in life. Exploring new cultures and food. Meeting people from all walks of life. It is a fulfilling experience. Travelling helps open up your world. It is highly recommended to at least travel once in your life.

However, travelling to a different place, especially a new country can feel a little overwhelming if you are visiting for the first time. There are visas, accommodation, transport, itinerary, health insurance, COVID regulations and more to take care of.

A country that makes it easy for you to travel around in Vietnam. Since the country is one of the major tourist destinations in South East Asia, the entire Vietnam visa process is simple and easy to get.

However, sometimes we can get so overwhelmed with planning the entire trip that we might forget to apply for a visa on time.

During times like this, when you've already booked your hotels and the entire itinerary is already set, it can be difficult to back out of the trip because of one minor setback.

Fortunately, Vietnam has one of the best visa systems in the world. It is possible to get a last-minute visa through its Vietnam visa-on-arrival option.

How to get a Vietnam visa on arrival?

Tourists travelling to Vietnam without any prior visa application, either online or offline with the embassy, can now obtain a visa upon arrival.

In case you are short on time or are unable to visit the embassy before the scheduled day of travel, you can apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival.

The Vietnamese visa-on-arrival is for tourists who are travelling for more than 30 days. The visa allows multiple entries.

All you need is a visa approval letter from a Vietnam government-authorised travel agency. You can contact them personally and they will apply for the visa on your behalf.

Along with a visa approval letter, a filled-in visa application form and a couple of other documents, it is now possible to travel to Vietnam without applying for a visa beforehand.

Typically it takes 3-4 days for the certificate to be mailed to your personal email after clearance.

The following documents are required to get a visa approval letter

  1. Passport with at least 6 months of validity
  2. Travel insurance proof
  3. 4x6 passport photo with white background and no glasses
  4. A filled-in visa application form
  5. Letter of Approval from a Vietnamese embassy or consulate
  6. Payment of 25-50 USD is to be made for the Visa on Arrival stamp at the airport

Submit the above documents to the authorised travel agent of your choice. Please note: Make sure to check the validity of the tour agency before submission of documents and payment of fees.

Visa-on-arrival is presented in the form of a stamp on the passport. You will need to pay the visa stamp fee in cash only in US dollars or Vietnamese Dong at your port of entry No other form of payment is accepted.

Vietnam visa on arrival is applicable only at the following arrival checkpoints:

  1. Hanoi
  2. Danang
  3. Ho Chi Minh City
