Local Food & Drinks

The Vietnamese are known for their fresh, healthy, and delicious food, You'll find bustling markets, cafes, and restaurants all across the country. Some of Vietnam's most famous dishes include pho, a simple noodle soup dish made from just four basic ingredients: clear broth, rice noodles, meat, and herbs. Banh mi, a sandwich made from baguettes and stuffed with all kinds of meat, vegetables, and fresh herbs. Hao Ga, a chicken rice porridge. Currency of Vietnam

The official currency for Vietnam is the dong (VND, symbol: ₫). Payments are made in dong but US dollars are also accepted in some hotels, restaurants, and tours. But it is not recommended to use USD since the exchange rate can be confusing. Almost all hotels and shopping malls in Vietnam accept Visa and MasterCard, but not roadside stalls. Most big cities and tourist areas in Vietnam have ATMs, but chip-and-pin ATMs are difficult to find. A magnetic stripe-backed card is therefore the best option.

Currently, there are banknotes of 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000, 5,000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, 100,000, 200,000 y 500,000 Vietnamese dongs.

The local taxi services charge anywhere between 30,000 to 40,000 Dong

One can hail online cabs at Grabcar, GoViet etc whose services are comparatively cheaper.

Visa

Travellers to Vietnam require a visa. There are two ways to obtain a visa- offline with the help of a tour company and the closest Vietnam embassy or online. You can apply for a visa via a registered and government approved tour company who will apply for your visa pre-approval letter. Once you receive your pre-approval letter, you can collect your visa and directly go to the check in counter at the airport on arrival.
