Vietnam is an amazing destination for travelers looking to explore new cultures, vibrant cities, and stunning landscapes. From the bustling streets of Hanoi to the mesmerizing limestone islands of Ha Long Bay, there is no shortage of experiences to be had in this beautiful country. Whether you’re visiting Vietnam for a week or a month, here are 7 can’t-miss experiences you won’t want to miss on your trip.

Ho Chi Minh City

Vietnam's most vibrant and bustling city, Ho Chi Minh City (formerly Saigon), is the perfect starting point for any trip to Vietnam. As the country's economic hub, the city is filled with countless attractions, great restaurants, and plenty of cultural activities. Whether it's exploring the stunning French colonial architecture, admiring the street art, or tasting the best local dishes, there's no shortage of things to do in Ho Chi Minh City such as visiting the Independence Palace,  Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Post Office, etc. Besides the popular tourist sites, you can also head to the city's any markets like the famous Ben Thanh Market for some shopping. And for those who need it, a Vietnam visa can be easily obtained in order to visit this exciting metropolis.

Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is an incredibly lush and biodiverse region located in southern Vietnam. It is the largest delta in Asia and offers many different things to explore. From floating markets to boat trips on the winding rivers, visitors will find plenty of ways to get out and explore the area.

One of the best ways to experience the Mekong Delta is to take a boat ride through its canals. Here, you’ll be able to witness the local lifestyle and visit floating markets, traditional villages, and even try local delicacies. Make sure to dress modestly, as it’s required to enter certain parts of the delta. Additionally, make sure to have your Vietnam visa if you’re planning to leave the main tourist areas.

For a more serene experience, visit Cai Be, one of the most beautiful sites in the Mekong Delta. You can take a river cruise through the calm waters and observe the many floating markets that line its banks. If you’re looking for a more adventurous activity, head to Tra Vinh province and rent a bike or scooter to explore its countryside. There are also several Buddhist temples in the area for those interested in exploring more spiritual aspects of the region.

Halong Bay

Halong Bay

Located in northeastern Vietnam, Ha Long Bay is a spectacular natural wonder and one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Here, visitors can admire thousands of limestone karsts and islets that rise from emerald waters and explore the numerous caves and grottos within. Ha Long Bay offers countless activities to visitors, such as swimming, kayaking, and rock climbing. Fishing is also popular here, as the bay is home to various species of fish. To take advantage of these activities, visitors must obtain a valid Vietnam visa.

Sapa Valley

Sapa

Located in northern Vietnam, the mountain town of Sapa offers stunning views of terraced rice paddies and lush jungle-covered hills. A popular tourist destination, Sapa is known for its ethnic minorities who live in the area, such as Hmong and Dao people, and its colorful markets where they sell their handmade wares.

If you're looking for more adventurous activities, trek to the top of Fansipan Mountain, or go on an overnight camping trip to explore the remote valleys of Sapa. The lush green landscape makes it the perfect spot for hiking and exploring nature. Don't forget to visit the stunning terraced rice paddies, which are considered among the most beautiful in all of Southeast Asia.

Hoi An

Hoi An

Located in central Vietnam, Hoi An is a must-visit destination for any traveler looking to experience the beauty of the country. With its vibrant cultural heritage, stunning beaches, and abundance of activities, there is something here for everyone.

For those looking to explore the city, Hoi An offers plenty of sights and attractions. The Old Town, which dates back to the 15th century, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an ideal spot for wandering and taking in the historic architecture. Be sure to pay a visit to the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, a symbol of Hoi An, while you’re in town. If you’re interested in shopping and crafts, head to the nearby market area where you can find local wares.

Hoi An is also known for its stunning beaches, so if you want to spend some time in the sun and sand, be sure to check out An Bang Beach or Cua Dai Beach. The nearby My Son Sanctuary is also worth visiting for its ancient Hindu ruins.

Hue Imperial Citadel

Hue

Located in central Vietnam, the former imperial capital of Hue is a must-see on any trip to the country. From visiting the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Citadel to exploring the city’s famous tombs, there’s plenty to explore in this historic city.

For travelers who want to take their time in Hue, it’s worth getting a Vietnam visa so you can stay for a longer period. This will allow you to explore the many attractions in the area, such as Thien Mu Pagoda, Imperial City, and Khai Dinh Tomb. You can also check out the Dong Ba Market, where you can find everything from traditional crafts to local produce.

The nearby Perfume River is another must-see while in Hue. Take a boat cruise along the river, where you can admire the impressive architecture of the old buildings that line the banks. The view of Hue at night is also a sight to behold!

Hanoi city

Hanoi

Another city in Vietnam you shouldn't miss out on is Hanoi, the capital. The city, which is located in the northern region of Vietnam, has long been a popular tourist destination. With a history dating back to the 3rd century CE, Hanoi has always fascinated those who pass through its streets. Hanoi offers a spectacular and unforgettable holiday for visitors, from its bustling markets and delicious street food to its pagodas, architecture, and rich culture. The city's combination of old and new is sure to amaze travelers, making it a must-see destination for anyone looking to explore Vietnam.

At the heart of Hanoi is the tranquil Hoan Kiem Lake, which is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. The charming yet chaotic Old Quarter is one of the most popular neighbourhoods in Hanoi. It is where most of Hanoi’s tourist sites, hotels, restaurants, cafes, and bars can be found. The Old Quarter's streets and alleys have been preserved in their original form for centuries and are lined with traditional shops and vendors. It is a great place to explore and experience the city's unique culture and vibrant atmosphere.
