Escape from Hanoi for three days with this tour that takes you deep into the mountainous Cao Bang province in northeast Vietnam. Visit landmarks like the Ban Gioc Waterfall and the Nguom Ngao Cave, take a river cruise around Ba Bể Lake and the Nang River, and stay overnight in local homestays. 

Itinerary

Day 1

  • Pick up from hotel lobby at Hanoi Old Quarters 
  • Drive to Chi Lang Pass
  • Walk around and explore the area around the Quy Mon Quan Gate
  • Have lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Dang
  • Visit Mother’s Temple and Dong Khe 
  • Enjoy dinner 
  • Overnight stay in a local homestay owned and operated by a local Nung family

Day 2

  • Have breakfast at the homestay
  • Depart to Trung Khanh on the border with China
  • Meet and interact with the Nung people living in the village of Phuoc Sen
  • Spend some time at Ban Gioc Waterfall 
  • Head over to Nguom Ngao Cave
  • Return to Cao Bang town 
  • Head down the “snake pass” to Ba Be lake
  • Stay overnight in a homestay constructed in traditional Tay fashion and owned by a local Tay family
  • Relax and unwind and enjoy a delicious, authentic home-cooked meal

Day 3

  • Have breakfast 
  • Get on a boat and set off onto the lake
  • Continue along the Nang River
  • Explore the caves of Puong Grotto 
  • Get driven back to Hanoi 
  • Stop at a tea plantation along the way
