CHONGQING DISCOVERY JOURNEY – THE HEART OF SOUTHWEST CHINA

Chongqing – the shining gem of Southwest China – is a city where the Yangtze River and the Jialing River converge. Known as the “Mountain City” and “Three-Dimensional City”, it fascinates visitors with its unique topography and multi-level transportation systems that intertwine across the hills.
The “Chongqing Discovery Journey – The Heart of Southwest China” tour invites travelers to admire stunning architectural landmarks, immerse in the ancient Ba-Shu culture, savor the signature spicy cuisine, and explore UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Icons of Chongqing – Kuixing Tower & Vibrant Liberation Pedestrian Street

The journey begins at Kuixing Tower, an ancient structure embodying the traditional Chinese architectural style and intellectual spirit. Once a sacred place where scholars prayed for success in imperial examinations, it is now a distinctive cultural landmark amid the modern skyline.

Just a short walk away lies the Liberation Pedestrian Street, Chongqing’s most bustling commercial hub. At its heart stands the iconic Liberation Monument, a symbol of victory over fascism. Surrounded by skyscrapers, trendy boutiques, restaurants, and cafés, this area truly represents the beating heart of Chongqing.

Hongya Cave – The Legendary Cliffside Town Between River and Mountain

No trip to Chongqing would be complete without visiting Hongya Cave, an ancient riverside town perched dramatically against the mountainside. The area is renowned for its stilt-house wooden architecture and shimmering lights reflected on the Yangtze River at night. Often described as a “Sky-Hanging Ancient Town”, Hongya Cave is the city’s most popular attraction after the Forbidden City. It’s also a paradise for street food lovers, offering countless spicy delicacies that define Chongqing’s culinary identity.

A highlight of this tour is the visit to the Dazu Rock Carvings, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Featuring over 50,000 intricate statues carved into the cliffs since the 7th century, this site is often referred to as the “largest open-air Buddhist art museum in China.” The lifelike sculptures vividly depict religious stories, human values, and ancient wisdom, leaving visitors in awe of their artistry and spiritual depth.

As night falls, Chongqing becomes even more dazzling. You can embark on a Yangtze River night cruise, experience the Yangtze River cable car, or enjoy a Sichuan face-changing opera show – all of which highlight the city’s rich cultural heritage and vibrant nightlife.
