Welcome to an extraordinary journey exploring Southern Xinjiang a mysterious and captivating land, occupying one sixth of China's territory, where the ancient echoes of the Silk Road still resonate. Xinjiang is not only a land of catchy melodies and dazzling dances, of fruits and precious stones, but also a magnificent crossroads where Eastern and Western cultures converge. With a rich history, countless cultural relics, and world-renowned underground museums, this 10-day, 9-night trip will transport you into a real life fairy tale, awakening all your senses and offering unforgettable experiences.
The first and most prominent stop on this journey is Kashgar an ancient city nestled in the westernmost corner of Xinjiang, holding strategic importance on the ancient Silk Road. Kashgar is where the traditional culture of the Uyghur people is most vividly preserved. You will immerse yourself in the ambiance of Kashgar Old City with its distinctive brick houses, colorful windows, quiet narrow streets, and the bustling energy of local specialty stalls. Here, Persian carpeted tea houses and the laughter of Uyghur children create a vibrant and brilliant tapestry.

A visit to Kashgar would be incomplete without seeing the Abakh Khoja Mausoleum a family cemetery complex built in the 17th century. This is the burial place of the famous Islamic missionary Apak Khoja and his descendants, also known as the tomb of Ikparhan, the legendary "Fragrant Concubine" who reputedly emitted a natural fragrance. Next, the Id Kah Mosque, the largest mosque in Xinjiang, will unfold before your eyes. Situated in the central square, with its characteristic Central Asian architecture, a golden tiled main gate, and two imposing Minarets, Id Kah is a symbol of Islamic faith and art, dating back to 1442.
From Kashgar, the journey will lead you along the Karakoram Highway hailed as the eighth wonder of humanity, connecting China and Pakistan. This legendary road winds through treacherous snow capped mountains and pristine glaciers, revealing unforgettable vistas of majestic natural beauty. You will marvel at the beauty of Baisha Lake nestled amidst the Tianshan Mountains with its fine white sand contrasting beautifully with the turquoise waters. Next is Karakul Lake an emerald gem at an altitude of approximately 3,600m at the foot of the eternal ice peaks of the Pamir Range. Its crystal clear surface reflects the majestic Mount Muztagh Ata and Mount Kongur, serving as home to nomadic Kyrgyz and Tajik people, offering picturesque and serene natural landscapes.

Venturing deeper into the Pamir Plateau, you will conquer the Panlong Ancient Road one of the most winding ancient routes in the world with over 600 continuous hairpin turns at an altitude of 4,100m, likened to a "giant black dragon" sprawling across the Pamirs. Alongside it is Bandir Lake, a tranquil blue jewel nestled amidst towering mountains and pristine glaciers, creating a stunning watercolor painting. A visit to a Tazik family home will be a precious opportunity to learn about the lifestyle, customs, and unique culture of one of Xinjiang's most hospitable ethnic minorities, enjoying tea and experiencing the warmth of highland hospitality.
The journey continues to explore unique geological wonders. The Muji Volcano Crater, with its perfectly round shape, formed by ancient volcanic activity, boasts a wild and magnificent beauty. The area around the crater is further enhanced by the majestic rock formations dubbed "Eighteen Arhats Mountains." These mountains feature spectacular shapes and unique rock formations standing close together, creating an awe-inspiring and grand landscape, reminiscent of the 18 Arhats in Buddhism. This is an excellent destination for photography and learning about the region's geological history.

Equally impressive is the Wensu Grand Canyon. This majestic canyon has been sculpted by millions of years of wind and water erosion, featuring vibrant red cliffs, bizarre rock pillars, and deep, winding fissures. Stepping into the canyon, you will feel transported to another world, full of enchantment and mystery, where light reflects off the rocks to create an ethereal atmosphere an excellent destination for geological exploration and artistic photography. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to visit a Red Date Orchard, tasting fresh, nutritious red dates, a symbolic fruit of Xinjiang.
An unmissable highlight of Southern Xinjiang is the Luntai Populus Euphratica Forest. This characteristic tree species of the arid Taklamakan Desert creates a "golden populus forest stretching thousands of miles," with hundreds of thousands of populus trees turning brilliant yellow simultaneously, making the forest a top attraction. These resilient trees live up to the Chinese saying: 'A populus tree lives for a thousand years without dying, dies for a thousand years without falling, and falls for a thousand years without decaying.' Their splendid beauty and tenacious vitality are sure to leave a deep impression.

Concluding the nature exploration, you will arrive at Bosten Lake Xinjiang's largest freshwater lake, and a vital water source for the region's lush forests and fertile fields. With an area of over 1100kmยฒ and a rich ecosystem, its clear waters change color with the weather, Bosten Lake showcases the majestic and tranquil beauty of Northern Xinjiang. Before departing, you will visit the Grand Bazaar in Urumqi, also known as the "Five Nations Market" or "Persian Bazaar," a bustling hub where merchants from Central Asia, Russia, Mongolia, and even Korea gather, offering a vibrant shopping experience and diverse cultural immersion.
This 10 day, 9 night journey through Southern Xinjiang is not just a trip, but a meaningful adventure, leading you through legendary lands, witnessing the majestic beauty of nature, and gaining a deep understanding of the vibrant multi ethnic culture of the Western Regions.
