DISCOVER HONGHE PREFECTURE

The Discover Honghe Prefecture Tour is a 4-day, 3-night journey from Hanoi to the southern region of Yunnan Province, China — known as the “Emerald Gem” of the Southwestern Plateau. With a smart and time-efficient itinerary, this tour perfectly combines cultural exploration, natural discovery, and luxurious relaxation, promising travelers a truly fulfilling holiday.

Shui Ethnic Village – The “Mini Fenghuang Ancient Town” of Yunnan

Located in Pingbian County, the Shui Ethnic Village is renowned for its harmonious blend of ancient and modern architecture. The traditional tiled-roof houses, stone-paved streets, and the winding blue-green Muyang River create a picturesque setting reminiscent of a fairytale. Often referred to as the “Little Fenghuang Ancient Town” of China, it’s an ideal destination for photography lovers and those seeking a serene, nostalgic atmosphere surrounded by nature.

Mile City – Paradise of Hot Springs and Blossoms All Year Round

Mile City, a renowned resort destination in Honghe Prefecture, is blessed with a mild climate, hot springs, and pristine landscapes. The highlight is Taiping Lake Park, a vast highland lake spanning over 1,000 hectares, encircled by lush forests and vibrant flowers all year long. Visitors can relax by the lake, enjoy sunset views, or experience a romantic boat, tram, or flower cruise through the valley. Another must-visit is Honghe Water Town, dubbed the “Little Wuzhen” of Mile, where old-world charm meets modern aesthetics — a favorite check-in spot for young travelers and international tourists alike.

Mile City

Mile Ancient Temple – Home to the World’s Largest Maitreya Buddha Statue

Perched atop Mount Jinping, the Ancient Mile Temple exudes majesty amid the clouds. Built during the Qing Dynasty, the temple is home to the world’s largest sitting Maitreya Buddha statue, standing 19.99 meters tall — symbolizing happiness and prosperity. The 1,999-step climb to the temple, surrounded by verdant greenery, offers both a spiritual and physical journey. From the summit, visitors are rewarded with a panoramic view of the dazzling Mile City below.

Jianshui Ancient Town – A Living Heritage of Chinese Architecture and Culture

Jianshui is one of Yunnan’s most famous ancient towns, preserving its traditional beauty over hundreds of years. The Jianshui Old Street area showcases a fascinating contrast: the lively East Gate filled with shops and street food, and the tranquil West Gate renowned for its traditional tofu-making craft village.
A must-see attraction is Zhu Family Garden, a 20,000 m² flower garden designed in classical style with wooden houses, stone bridges, lotus ponds, and flower-filled walkways. It’s a top photo spot where visitors can don traditional Chinese costumes for stunning, timeless portraits.

Mengzi – The Land of Pomegranates and Cultural Heritage

As the capital of Honghe Prefecture, Mengzi is a city steeped in history and natural beauty. Its highlight, Ten-Thousand-Mu Pomegranate Garden, comes alive during the pomegranate season (July–December). Visitors can stroll among rows of crimson trees and pick their own fruits to take home.
Within the garden lies Chu Tower, a magnificent structure featuring 88 reliefs that depict pomegranate legends and Eastern cultural tales — from Persian princesses to the Monkey King. It’s a captivating blend of art, spirituality, and nature.
No visit to Mengzi is complete without tasting the region’s iconic dish — Crossing-the-Bridge Rice Noodles (Guoqiao Mixian) — a light yet flavorful specialty of Yunnan cuisine celebrated for its delicate taste and presentation.
