Is my device eSIM compatible?

Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM, including recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, and Google Pixel models.

eSIM Coverage and Mobile Networks in China

Our China eSIM plans connect to major mobile networks such as China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom, depending on the selected package. Many plans support 4G or 5G connectivity in major destinations including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu and Xi'an.

Coverage, network availability and connection speed vary by location, device and individual eSIM package. Check the network information shown on each plan before purchasing if a specific carrier or 5G access is important for your trip.

Can I Use Google, WhatsApp and Social Media with a China eSIM?

Access to services such as Google, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram and TikTok in mainland China depends on how the eSIM provider routes mobile data. Some international roaming eSIMs may route traffic outside mainland China, while other plans may remain subject to local internet restrictions.

Do not assume that every China eSIM bypasses the Great Firewall. Check the specific plan details before purchasing if access to these services is important during your trip.

How Much eSIM Data Do I Need in China?

For light use such as maps, messaging and occasional web browsing, 1–3 GB may be enough for a short trip. Travelers who regularly use social media, navigation, translation apps or upload photos may prefer 5–10 GB.

For longer trips or frequent video use, consider a larger data package or a daily-data plan. Compare both the total data allowance and validity period when choosing a plan, as a cheap package may not necessarily provide enough data for your travel needs.

How to Install and Activate Your China eSIM

After purchasing an eSIM, you will receive the installation information or QR code required to add the eSIM to a compatible device. You can normally install the eSIM before departure while you still have a reliable internet connection.

When you arrive in China, select the eSIM as your mobile data line and enable data roaming if required by the plan. Keep your physical SIM enabled separately if you still need to receive calls or SMS on your regular number.

Activation rules can vary between packages, so check when the validity period begins before installing or activating your eSIM.
