How to get a Vietnam visa on arrival?  

Tourists travelling to Vietnam without any prior visa application, either online or offline with the embassy, can now obtain a visa upon arrival.

The Vietnamese visa-on-arrival is for tourists who are travelling for more than 30 days. The visa allows multiple entries.  

All you need is a visa approval letter from a Vietnam government-authorised travel agency. You can contact them personally and they will apply for the visa on your behalf. 

Along with a visa approval letter, a filled-in visa application form and a couple of other documents, it is now possible to travel to Vietnam without applying for a visa beforehand. 

Typically it takes 3-4 days for the certificate to be mailed to your personal email after clearance.

The following documents are required to get a visa approval letter

  1. Passport with at least 6 months of validity 
  2. Travel insurance proof 
  3. 4x6 passport photo with white background and no glasses
  4. A filled-in visa application form
  5. Letter of Approval from a Vietnamese embassy or consulate 
  6. Payment of 25-50 USD is to be made for the Visa on Arrival stamp at the airport

Submit the above documents to the authorised travel agent of your choice. Please note: Make sure to check the validity of the tour agency before submission of documents and payment of fees.

Visa-on-arrival is presented in the form of a stamp on the passport. You will need to pay the visa stamp fee in cash only in US dollars or Vietnamese Dong at your port of entry No other form of payment is accepted. 

Vietnam visa on arrival is applicable only at the following arrival checkpoints:

  1. Hanoi
  2. Danang
  3. Ho Chi Minh City
