Originally, Tao Dan Park was part of the grounds of the French Governor-General’s Palace. In 1869, after the construction of Miss Clavell Road, the park was separated from the palace and named Jardin de la Ville, also known as Vườn Ông Thượng or Vườn Bồ-Rô.
