However, if you're seeking a peaceful and pristine destination to relax and recharge, Tra Co Beach located at the northeasternmost point of the country is the perfect choice. Tra Co Beach is located in Tra Co Ward, Mong Cai City, Quang Ninh Province, about 10 kilometers from the city center. Located close to the Vietnam–China border, it is known as “the first beach of the Fatherland”, stretching an impressive 17 kilometers the longest of any beach in Vietnam.

Just under 2 km from Tra Co lies Sa Vi Cape, Vietnam’s northeasternmost point. Known as the “land of crashing waves”, it marks a sacred national border. If time permits, visit Mong Cai Market the busiest market in the border area, famous for affordable imported goods, local specialties from the highlands, and a variety of delicious street food.

The ideal time to travel to Tra Co is during summer, from May to August, when the weather is sunny, the sea is clear, and conditions are perfect for beach activities. However, it's best to avoid the stormy period from late August to early September.
From Hanoi:
• Take a coach from My Dinh or Giap Bat bus stations to Mong Cai (approx. 6–7 hours).
• Then take a taxi or motorbike taxi for about 10 km to reach the beach.
From Ho Chi Minh City or the South:
• Fly to Van Don Airport or Cat Bi Airport then take a coach to Mong Cai.
• From there, take a taxi or hire a motorbike to Tra Co.
There are several accommodation options in Tra Co, ranging from budget to mid-range:
• Beachside Homestays: Simple, cozy spaces with local charm (approx. 200,000 – 400,000 VND/night).
• Guesthouses and Hotels in Mong Cai: More variety, with modern amenities.
• Small Beach Resorts: A good option for those seeking a more comfortable and relaxing stay.
Note: During summer, especially weekends or holidays, it’s recommended to book accommodation in advance.
• Bring sunscreen, a wide-brimmed hat, and sunglasses to protect against the sun.
• If camping, pack a torch, sleeping bag, snacks, and water.
• Keep the environment clean do not litter on the beach.
• Dress respectfully when visiting religious or cultural sites.
• Always ask for prices in advance when buying seafood or using local services.
